Monsanto Community Grant

Blue Valley High School has received a $2,500 donation from America’s Farmers Grow Communities, sponsored by the Monsanto Fund

The donation will help with a number of projects and supplies occurring in our agricultural education program here.

Money will be used to install an overhead irrigation watering system for our hanging baskets. This will reduce the amount of labor involved with watering hanging baskets tremendously and will allow horticulture students to spend more time caring for their bedding plants on the growing tables. The overhead watering system will also allow for a more even distribution of water in the hanging baskets creating better plant growth and fuller hanging baskets.

Money from the award will also be used to purchase two new Lincoln AC/DC Stick Welders that will help increase the capacity of our welding lab and allow students to use low hydrogen electrodes that we were unable to utilize with the older AC only machines. These welders will also help us during hosting this Summer’s Welding Academy by having high quality machines available for Academy participants.

Finally, $500 from the award will be used to purchase high need shop equipment such as grinders, cordless drills, and drill bits.
