BPA Nationals 2009

Blue Valley Business Professionals of America Participate in National Leadership Conference in Dallas, Texas for Competition, Recognition, and Interaction with Industry
Four students from Blue Valley High School attended and competed at the BPA National Leadership Competition this year in Dallas, Texas on June 16-21. Those students were: Ryan, Kristen, Carrie, and Ashley. Also accompanying the students was Patty Nelson, advisor. These students competed in various technology/business competitions, including: Financial Math and Analysis, Fundamental Word Processing Skills, Advanced Word Processing Skills, Advanced Office Procedures, Parliamentary Procedures, and Administrative Support Concepts.

Those who qualified but were unable to attend because of the rescheduled conference were: Logan, Megan, Taylor, and Bobbi. We were very pleased about the opportunity to compete at such a high level, and very exicted when Kristen placed fourth in Fundamental Word Processing Skills and was recognized on stage.

Advisor Patty Nelson was awarded an honor advisor during the conference. The highlight of the conference was the presentation of the awards to the winners of the national competitive events.
Dallas places visited were the Dallas World Aquarium, the JFK assassination site, Speed Zone, Six Flags Over Texas, and the historic West End. High school, middle school, and college students from throughout the United States participated in Business Professionals of America’s 43rd National Leadership Conference. Activities included general sessions with keynote speaker Grant Baldwin, business meetings, leadership workshops, contests, and the election of national officers.
