Programs and EventsReading CountsStudents at Olsburg
Elementary School are participating in a new computerized reading program
this year. It is called Scholastic Reading Counts. This program manages
and motivates independent reading district wide. Teachers also receive instant data driven
reports. These reports help them know what progress students are making
and when they need to intervene. Please encourage your child to read everyday. The benefits are a life long enjoyment of reading. To learn more about the Reading Counts program click here. Everyday MathematicsThe EMGames provide
the frequent practice that is necessary for students to attain strong
mental math skills and reflexes. Playing the EMGames provides an alternative
to repetitive drills, reduces the use of worksheets, and offers an
almost unlimited source of practice material. Homework KansasHomework Kansas powered by tutor.com provides live homework help in Math, Science, Social Studies, and English for students in grades 4-12 and College Intro. This free service is provided by the State Library of Kansas and Kansas Public Libraries. Hours of operation are 4 pm to 11 pm daily. Students on PCs or Macs log on to the Kan-Ed Empowered Desktop and click on the Homework Kansas link. Homework Kansas can also be accessed through your Kansas Library Card. Contact your school librarian for login information. Kansas DayCelebrated in January in honor on Kansas becoming a state on January 29, 1861. Community members particpate in a variety of exercises designed to educate the students about the past and other talents. Birthday DinnerCelebrated the last Friday of each month to honor all students, recognizing those children who had birthdays throughout the month. Grandparents DayA creative way of getting the students grandparents involved at Olsburg Elementary School. One day a year all grandparents are invited to participate in special programs and have lunch with their grandchildren. Play DayA day set aside for the last day of the school year. Many different competitions and activities are planned and participated in by all.
