Feed Store Some of the people we interviewed worked at Holmstrom's Feed Store. Citizens mentioned that the feed sacks were made of calico. Women could pick out the pattern of sack they wanted to make a dress. The workers claimed the woman always wanted the bags towards the bottom of the stack. Workers learned to put the bags in piles according to the pattern on the sacks so that they would not have to go digging through the piles. Prices of seed as advertised in The Enterprise newspaper 1893: Corn............$0.25 Oats.............$0.20 |
