How to View this Site

Any current web browser should be able to display the pages.

This site should view correctly at all monitor resolutions, 640 x 480 and up. We recommend a minimum resolution of 800 x 600.

Moving around the "Bridging the Generations" site should be very easy. At the top of each page are links to the main sections of the site, these include:

  • Welcome

  • What Life was Like

  • Photo Gallery
  • References
  • Home

At the bottom of the page is a link to email us comments, corrections, or additions to the site. Also at the bottom of the page is a link to the "Bridging the Generations" site on our school's web server.

Due to the nature of this project we have a lot of pictures on this site. We have tried to limit the number of pictures per page to speed up download times. Depending on the size, number, and quality of pictures on a page some pages may load slower than others. If you are experiencing slow download times please be patient, it is worth the wait!

We also have video clips on the site. You will need Quicktime installed on your computer to play these clips. Quicktime is a free download, and can be installed on both Macintosh and Windows computers.

To play the video clips follow the directions on the page. Our clips will be downloaded to your computer, once download is complete a window with the clip will open up. You can use the playback buttons attached to the window to play the movie, they will look similiar to this:

Controller

Start Click once on this button to start PLAY. Once play begins this same button becomes PAUSE.

Stop This button will move during playback. Click and drag this button to move anywhere in the clip.

Step When the movie is STOPPED, clicking once on these buttons move you through the clip one frame at a time.

Use this button to control the VOLUME of the clip. Also use your computer's volume control to make adjustments.

Download times of our movies will depend on the speed of your Internet connection. Watch your browser's status bar to monitor the download.
