Information
Our district is located in north central Kansas at the north end
of Tuttle Creek Reservoir, 25 minutes north of Manhattan, population
50,000 and home of Kansas State University.

General Fund Budget: $2,050,963.00
Bonded indebtedness:$1,650,000.
Square miles in district: 319.0
In the year 2000, we added a new gymnasium, three new classrooms,
a computer lab, and a vocational agriculture shop. In 2001, all
school buildings were air conditioned.
The K-4 Elementary
School is located in Olsburg and the Middle School and High School
are in Randolph.

Blue Valley High School 9-12 = 82
Total Enrollment = 215
Average Class
Size - 7-20 students with a teacher/pupil ratio of 1:10 providing
for individualized instruction.
Eight bus
routes provide transportation to approximately 90% of our students.
The three
buildings were built in 1960 or later.
Pre-School
USD #384 and the Twin Lakes Educational Cooperative (TLEC)
offers a 3 and 4 year old Preschool located in Randolph.
3 year olds from the Blue Valley and Riley County school districts
who have been identified with a disability and are on a special
education IEP may attend.Transportation
for these students will be furnished by their home district
and all fees are paid by the TLEC.
Students
who live in the Blue Valley school district and turn 4 years
old on or before August 31 may also attend the Preschool at
no charge to the parents. These expenses are paid for by Blue
Valley's state Four Year Old At Risk Grant and general fund money.
Transportation for these students will not be furnished by the
district.
The Preschool
will have both a morning session, 8:30 to 11:30 a.m., and an
afternoon session, 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Students will be assigned
to a session after enrollment in the late summer with preference
given to 3 year olds attending the morning session. For

Academic
Excellence
We have
met or exceeded State averages in the Kansas Assessments in Math,
Reading, Science, Social Studies and Writing.
The Vocational
Education Departments have placed 15 students in national competitions
in the last year.
We have the
Reading Counts Program K-12, Accelerated Math 5-8, and Reading
Recovery Program at the 1st grade level.
Our 25 certified
staff have an average of 16 years of teaching experience, and 48%
have a masters degree.
Extracurricular
Activities
We offer football,
volleyball, basketball, track, weight lifting, and cheerleading
for all students 7th through 12th grade.
Organizations
at the high school include FFA, FCA, FCCLA, BPA, FEA, and NHS.
Both the high
school and middle school sponsor scholars bowl. There is a very
active science club at the middle school. We are fortunate that
all students may participate in any or all of the clubs and sports
offered.
Technology
The Board of Education is committed to providing our students
access to the latest in technology to improve their ability to
compete in todays world.
Our district
provides internet access for all students and staff, computer
labs in each building, at least one computer in each classroom,
mobile computer labs in the buildings, and a computer network,
wired and wireless, throughout each building.
With the
start of the 2005-2006 school year every high school student
is issued a laptop computer.
We offer
on-line courses at the high school level. We have an internet
program that allows parents and students to check their assignments,
grades and attendance on an ongoing basis.
Community
The towns of
Randolph and Olsburg each support a population of 175.
The communities
have a bank, restaurants, grocery stores, gas stations, churches,
beauty shops, plumbing store, post offices, body shop, auto mechanics,
volunteer fire departments, 4-H clubs, Boys Scouts, and a very active
summer softball program.
