WELCOME GUESTS:  President, James Peter welcomed our guests.

OPEN FORUM:  Matt Schreiber, K-12 Counselor, was in attendance to go over the newly released ACT scores from last year.  The District is above the state average.  The hard work that the staff and students have dedicated to raising these scores is very impressive.  Blue Valley is hosting an ACT preparedness class on September 12 and will also host the ACT test on October 28.  Superintendent Brady Burton publically thanked Matt Schreiber, Marion Mazouch, and staff for all their hard work to get these scores up. Good job!

  1.  Stephen Corkill commended the administration, staff, and students for all their hard work in increasing the ACT scores.  Parental support is also an important factor for this success.
  2. James Peter mentioned that the buildings and grounds look good.
  3. A.G. McLean said that the write up in The Countian about the eclipse was very nice.

RECOGNITION OF STUDENTS/STAFF:  No one was in attendance to be recognized.

PRINCIPAL REPORTS:  These were noted.  Marion Mazouch added that the students participated in structured activities during the eclipse.  Thank you to Ruth Hutson and Kyle Hutson, Booster Club President, for ordering and providing all district students with approved glasses to view the eclipse.  It was a great day.

SUPERINTENDENT REPORT:  Greg Vahrenberg will not attend the October 12 public meeting but, will attend the October 17 public meeting.  The base state aid per student will increase $122 per student for the 2018-2019 school year.  The state has capped the amount of funds available for bonds this year.  The amount has almost been met so some district bond elections will have to wait until the fall of 2018.  USD #384 has already been approved for their bond election.

BOARD REPORT: Nothing to report at this time.

CONSENT AGENDA:  The Board approved the Consent Agenda as follows:

The board instructed Brady Burton to contact Mike Carson and discuss his lack of communication with the Board and if he is going to continue being the district’s architect by meeting the deadlines on the bond timeline or if family commitments are keeping him from doing that.

Blue Valley High School Football:  The board was updated as to the status of Blue Valley High School Football team for 2018-2019 school year due to low number.  Surrounding districts are also dealing with lower number of participants for football.  Discussion had taken place with Linn High School to form a coop for two years as a football team.  Linn decided to not participate in a coop with Blue Valley, therefore Blue Valley is planning to have their own team for 2018-2019.
