Blue Valley BPA Competes at the State Leadership Conference
Six students, and the BPA advisor from Blue Valley High School competed at the Business Professionals of America State Leadership Conference in Wichita on February 16-18, 2012. After arriving and attending the opening ceremony, students began participating in their events. During the opening session, students listened to the inspiring keynote speech given by Brandon Lee White who speaks to thousands of youth at conferences, leadership events, camps, and more. During the opening session, Carlyn was awarded the Statesman Torch award for her involvement in leadership, academic, and community service projects. After competition ended Friday evening, students were able to wind down with a casino/dance event. Awards and placing were announced on Saturday. The Blue Valley chapter was awarded the HD Shotwell award for chapter community service and leadership activities. Those placing and qualifying for nationals in Chicago in April are: Bobbi--1st in Advanced Word Processing; Carlyn--3rd in Graphic Design Promotion and top 10 in Administrative Support Concepts; and Bobby--3rd in Fundamental Word Processing and competed in Presentation Management Team. Bailee placed in the top 10 for Interview Skills and will be attending nationals as the state historian. Brittany , Bailee, Carlyn, and Bobbi comprised a team that competed in Administrative Support Team who received 1st Alternate. Marcus competed in Keyboarding Production and Presentation Management Team.
