Kansas Day 2011
Olsburg Elementary students began their Kansas Day celebration learning about the Orphan Train. Mrs. Dowell showed pictures, described the lives of orphans in New York City, and related the story of her family members who rode the Orphan Train to Kansas.
Mrs. Dowell's students with the help of some elementary students and teachers reenacted a stop on the Orphan Train. Some children were chosen to stay with families, others were rejected and had to get back on the train hoping for better luck next time.
