Eight students from Blue Valley High School attended and competed at the BPA National Leadership Competition this year in Anaheim, California May 4-9. Those students were: Kristen, Carrie, Ashley, Callie, Megan, Brooke, Eli, and Jacob . Also accompanying the students was Patty Nelson, advisor. These students competed in various technology/business competitions including: Financial Math and Analysis, Advanced Word Processing Skills, Advanced Office Systems and Procedures, Parliamentary Procedures, Basic Office Systems and Procedures, and Administrative Support Concepts. We were very pleased about the opportunity to compete at such a high level, and very proud when Carrie placed second in the nation in Basic Office Systems and Procedures and awarded with a medal and plaque on stage.

Places in Anaheim visited were California Adventure in the Disneyland park, Knott’s Berry Farm, and the Santa Monica Pier. High school, middle school, and college students from throughout the United States participated in Business Professionals of America’s 44th National Leadership Conference. Activities included opening, closing and general sessions with keynote speaker Josh Shipp, business meetings, leadership workshops, contests, and the election of national officers. The highlight of the conference was the presentation of the awards to the winners of the national competitive events.
