Hello! WOW!! The office is a buzz with phone calls wanting to know the start date for school and what it will look like. The Board meets on Thursday to decide. I know this is a stressful time for all of us and the unknown is probably the worst. The decisions that are being made will impact our schools, families and communities so we want to get it right. Thank you for being patient with us as we work toward getting our kids learning again. We have and will continue to do what is best for our kids. Thank you for the time you are allowing us to have to make this decision.
We had a great turn out for our District Site Council meeting last night. It allowed us to share our thoughts and get feedback on what the community needs from the us to make the transition back to school as smooth as possible. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. We are all working through this together to do what id best for our kids! Go RAMS!!!
Online enrollment for USD 384 is now open. Instructions can be found on the school website at https://www.usd384.org/o/blue-valley-usd-384/page/online-enrollment--9.
Hello Blue Valley Community! I want to share some information with you concerning the steps we are taking to confront the challenges we are facing with COVID-19 and school starting safely. The USD 384 District Leadership Team (DLT) has met several times to review documents, listen to other professionals, and research material to develop a plan that will work for us, Blue Valley, to start school in as safe an environment as possible. From the day I started on July 1st, we have made progress planning for the 20-21 school year in an ever changing world. We have ordered sanitation/disinfectant supplies such as: paper masks, hand sanitizer stations for each classroom and common areas in all buildings, ordered thermometers for each building, bus and extras for activity screening where appropriate. The DLT attended the meetings to review the KSDE Navigating Change Guidelines. They reviewed procedures from Spring Continuous Learning Plan and started the process of creating the Blue Valley USD 384 Reopening Plan using the Navigating Change Guidelines. The plan that is being developed we believe will work for our schools, students, staff and communities. The plan is being developed to be in compliance with all requirements as set forth in Kansas Law, County Commissioner Regulations, County Health Officer Orders, Kansas Department of Education Guidelines and School Board Policy. We have requested input from parents, community members and staff to develop the best possible plan for school opening safely. Please know that this process is very fluid and all decisions can change on short notice, based on what the State and/or County agencies decide to do. There are rules and requirements that I know may upset some. If it is required by State and County Agencies we have no control and must follow them. Our DLT has looked at the documents and we are working to make sure we create a plan that works for our students, our schools and our community. I’m proud of our Staff and Board of Education for working through this challenge to make sure everyone is safe as we reopen school. I am excited to be in Blue Valley and excited to send my children to Blue Valley Schools. It is a great place to be! GO RAMS!!!
Good Evening Parents of USD384, We are sending out this parent survey to gather information about reopening school, It will help us get feedback on parent comfortability with sending your child(ren) back to school. Please be aware that we are developing a plan to reopen school in as safe a manner as we can. The Governor and Kansas State Board of Education are working through some details of what that will look like. We are excited to start school open when we are allowed to. Please take some time to complete this brief form. (1 form for each child) https://forms.gle/1fuXUU7PoqY5QWV17 Thank you for your time. Thank you for trusting us with the care and safety of your students. Thank you for supporting the USD 384 teachers and staff! GO RAMS!!!
Due to the recent announcements, we will be postponing online enrollment until we receive further guidelines about the start of school. Updates will be provided when enrollment is opening.
Hello Everyone, I am John Cox, the new Superintendent of Blue Valley USD384. Today, the Kansas State Board of Education approved the draft of guidelines for opening schools this fall. This afternoon, Governor Kelly announced her plan to delay the start of school until after Labor Day, approximately Sept 9th, to allow us to prepare properly for the reopening of schools. She will have specific mandates laid out in her Executive Order to be released on Monday the 20th. The district leadership team is preparing to meet and discuss the guidelines and come up with a plan that will help ensure a safe learning environment for everyone. Until our plan is finished, some things we can all do to slow and eventually stop the spread of COVID-19 is use good handwashing techniques, use the 6 feet social distancing guideline and use personal protective equipment (facemasks, gloves, etc) to keep us safe. Please know that the USD384 staff is preparing for the school year to provide a safe learning environment where every student can learn. We are making plans to follow applicable guidelines and mandates to ensure a successful return to school. Although no plan is perfect, we will always do what is best for our students and communities. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
Seniors don’t forget to come to graduation practice this Friday at 9am in new gym. Please bring your yard sign so they can be displayed before graduation on sat. Thanks, Mr. Mazouch.
Hi, Blue Valley Superintendent Brady Burton. The Riley County Health Department released their updated COVID19 Plan this morning, but it primarily pertains to businesses and will NOT effect the mass gathering current guidelines, like our upcoming BV graduation. So to review, each graduate will be given 12 entry tickets at graduation practice Friday morning, to take home and be distributed to family members. You MUST have a ticket to be allowed into the graduation ceremony Saturday, June 27, 3:00PM, BVHS New Gym. Everyone will enter through the BVHS southeast front doors(The one with the ramp), where your ticket will be collected. We encourage everyone to social distance and to wear a mask if you choose too. The graduation ceremony will also be broadcast live on Facebook over the McCormick Elementary School's web page. Several have asked if we have considered the BV football field for the ceremony and the answer is yes, we have considered that option but selected the BVHS new gym after consideration of all the logistics involved in making the event a success. We want to congratulate the members of the BV Class of 2020, and wish each one nothing but good health and happiness! Go Rams.
Hi, Blue Valley Superintendent Brady Burton. The Riley County Health Department has issued a new COVID19 Order #12 that goes into effect today and continues to limit mass gatherings to 50 people. This order will be in effect for 14 days. The RCHD is still planning to have their Phase Out begin June 24, where all mass gathering restrictions would be lifted. Again, we are still planning a June 27 BVHS graduation with no mass gathering restrictions, but, if the Phase Out does not begin as scheduled for our June 27 graduation, we still plan to hold graduation as scheduled, but will be required to use social distancing guidelines of 6 feet of separation, which will limit our BVHS gym capacity to 304 total people. If this does occur, we will allow each graduating senior a maximum of 12 guests to attend the ceremony. Admittance tickets and final entry details will be distributed at graduation practice June 26, if needed. Also, the graduation ceremony will be carried live over Facebook by logging into the McCormick Elementary Facebook Page. Again, we are planning to have an unrestricted graduation ceremony on June 27 as scheduled, but wanted everyone to be aware of a Plan B if we are still under Riley County Health Department COVID19 mass gathering restrictions. If questions contact Mr. Mazouch or myself. Thank you.
Hi, Superintendent Brady Burton. Governor Kelly announced yesterday that her State COVID19 Four Phase Plan would expire beginning today and the County Health Departments would now make the decisions pertaining to COVID19 restrictions. The Riley County Health Department has basically removed any restrictions that would impact our school district. So, beginning June 8, the BV Fitness Center will again be open for public use and the Class of 2020 graduation ceremony will be held Saturday, June 27, 3:00PM, BVHS new gym. Take care and Go Rams!
Just a reminder that students need to turn in crome books, power cords and I pads tomorrow from 6-7 pm to BVHS. Thank you
Hi Superintendent Brady Burton. This afternoon Governor Kelly announced she will be advancing the State to Phase 2 ahead of schedule starting May 22. She also announced by moving things up a week, the final Phase Out will now begin June 22 instead of June 29. So, this means we can now plan to again have graduation on June 27 at 3:00PM at the BVHS new gym. If the Governor's plan changes again, I will let you know. The graduation alternate date is still in place for July 18, if needed. Take care and Go Rams!
On Monday May 18, students will be receiving their awards from bus driver/teacher. Please return any textbooks and library books at this time. Crome books and their power cord need to be brought to BVHS on Thursday, May 21 from 6-7 pm. Thank you.
Hi Superintendent Brady Burton. Things have changed again concerning our COVID19 guidelines. Based on yesterdays Governor Kelly's press conference, she has now enacted Phase 1.5 in her plan to reopen Kansas. Basically, everything has been delayed or pushed back two more weeks. Due to this change, we will NOT be able to have graduation on June 27. Graduation will now be planned for Saturday, July 18, 3:00PM, BVHS New Gym. Please keep in mind, this could also change depending on what happens with COVID 19 over the next six weeks. Right now, the Phase Out of the COVID19 plan that takes off all restrictions is scheduled to begin on June 29. Take care and Go Rams!
Hi, Superintendent Brady Burton with a few updates. Our last student learning packet pick-up will be this Monday, May 18 and our last day of school is Tuesday, May 19. Our last day to serve student meals will also be May 19. Student grades should be made available the week of May 25. Eighth grade Promotion/Awards will be held Monday, May 18, 6:30PM, with a curb side drive up presentation in front of BVHS. Graduation will be held either Saturday, June 27 or Saturday, July 18, both at 3:00PM, BVHS new gym. At this time, we are planning to start in person school next August 13 as planned. Thank you for your support during this difficult fourth nine weeks of school. Go Rams!
Any students next year interested in being a cheerleader please contact Mrs. Young ASAP at her e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org
Hi, Superintendent Brady Burton with a few school updates. Our serving of breakfast and lunch student meals will END after serving lunch on May 19 which is also our last day of school. The LAST delivery of student continuous learning packets will be May 11. Those packets will then be picked-up on May 18 with that being our last day of packets. Drive through curb side 8th Grade Promotion will be held Monday, May 18, 6:30PM, in front of BVHS. The Class of 2020 traditional graduation is planned for Saturday, June 27, 3:00PM, BVHS New gym. The alternate date for graduation is Saturday, July 18, 3:00PM, BVHS New Gym. A decision on which date graduation will be held will be made the week of June 1 based on the status of COVID19. Stay healthy and enjoy your families! GO RAMS.
Hi, Superintendent Brady Burton. Our student's continuous learning continues to go well. The last packet pick-up will be Monday, May 18, with school ending May 19. We have been averaging serving around 160 meals each day Monday thru Friday with our curbside pick-up at two sites. Right now, our plans are that the last meals will be served May 19. Also, a couple of upcoming dates to keep in mind is our Kindergarten Curbside Roundup on May 5, 5:30 to 6:30PM in front of McCormick Elementary School and our Eighth Grade Curbside Promotion on May 18, 6:30PM, in front of BVHS. I hope everyone is doing well and staying healthy. We appreciate your support through this difficult time. Take care.
Students next year in grades 9-12 who are interested in cheerleading please contact Amy Young by May 4 through her e-mail. Her e-mail is email@example.com
Hi, superintendent Brady Burton. Today, Governor Kelly extended her "stay at home" executive order through May 3, due to COVID 19. Also, we have decided to reschedule our McCormick Elementary School kindergarten round-up to Tuesday, May 5, 5:30 to 6:30PM, at McCormick Elementary School. Families will remain in their vehicles as they do a curbside pick-up of their kindergarten information packets and meet Mrs. Dreith, Mrs. Innes, Mrs. Hoeltzel and Mr. Burton. More information to come! Our daily breakfast and lunches and our continuous learning plan for students both continue to go well. Stay healthy and focus on one day at a time. Go Rams!
If your son or daughter was 14 or older on March 1, 2020 and would like to take drivers ed class on-line this semester please e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org by Friday April 17. and I will call or e-mail you more details and information. Cost of class is $150. Mr. Mazouch.
Hi, Superintendent Brady Burton. The school board last night approved the recommendation of our graduation committee to move graduation from May 9 to June 27 at 3:00PM at BVHS with an alternate date of July 18. Also, 8th grade Promotion will still be held May 18, at 6:30PM, at BVHS, but a vehicle curbside pick-up of the promotion certificate and award packets will be used instead of the traditional ceremony. Students and families will be required to remain in their individual vehicles. More information on both activities will be released by Mr. Mazouch as the activity dates get closer. Thank you.
Hi, Superintendent Brady Burton, I hope everyone is doing well. We are into our second week of continuous learning for students and things seem to being going pretty well. A couple of reminders, since we are following our district calendar, Friday, April 10, and Monday, April 13, are NO school days. So, there will be no meals served on those two days and student learning packets will be delivered and picked up on Tuesday, April 14. I appreciate the time you are spending helping your children with their school work and making them feel safe and secure during this time of uncertainty. It truly is a family and school partnership working together to make the best experience possible for our Blue Valley kids! Take care and have a good Easter.
Hi Superintendent Brady Burton. Just a reminder we are following the USD#384 District Calendar for the remainder of this school year. We have no school scheduled on Friday, April 10 and Monday, April 13 due to Easter. So, student learning packets for that week will be picked-up and delivered on Tuesday, April 14. Packets for next week will be delivered and picked up on Monday morning. Thank you.
Hi, Superintendent Brady Burton. Just a reminder we are back in school tomorrow, only from home! The BVHS students are receiving their schedules and assignments on Google classroom, Zoom and most students will be receiving delivered assignment packets. BVMS students will each be receiving a delivered assignment packet along with information by email. The McCormick Elementary students will be receiving information through their class DOJO along with each student will be receiving a delivered assignment packet. All student packets will be delivered and picked up on Monday mornings between 8:30AM to 10:30AM to your home by our bus drivers, unless other arrangements have already been made to pick up/deliver packets to the district office. It will be the parents responsibility to help make needed resources available to help your students with their school work. Together, school and home, we will make the next seven weeks the best education situation we can for your student(s). Thank you and go Rams!
Hi, Superintendent Brady Burton. Governor Kelly announced this morning she is enacting a state-wide Stay At Home Order for all Kansas counties beginning Monday through April 19. Again, schools are considered essential, so there will be very little change in the the guidelines we are currently functioning under. Stay healthy and at home if possible.
Hi, Superintendent Brady Burton. Today at 4:15PM the Riley County Health Department issued an "Stay At Home Order," for Riley County starting at 12:01AM Sunday through April 11, to help prevent the spread of Covid-19. According to Governor Kelly's executive order No. 20-15, schools are exempted from the Riley County Health Department's order No. 3, "Stay At Home," because we are considered an essential function and a necessary activity. Our continuous learning plan and the serving of lunch will continue as it has been. Really, nothing changes for us, other than I encourage all of our teachers to try to do as much as possible to carry out our continuous learning plan from their homes. Further information on the Stay At Home Order can be found on the Riley County Health Department's website.
Just a few reminders from High School Principal Marion Mazouch: Continuous learning will start on March 30. We will have several resources posted to our district website for high school parents and guardians that explain the organization of our Continuous Learning. The resources are Continuous Learning Expectations for High School Parents, How students can log in and use ZOOM, and A Parents' Guide to Google Classroom. All students need to log into Google Classroom before March 30 and accept their teachers’ invitations to Google Classroom. Parents wanting guardian access to Google Classroom need to send their gmail address to each of their child’s teachers. If they do not have a gmail address, then they will need to sign up for one to gain access to Google Classroom. Parents not wishing to have access to Google Classroom do not need to do this. Each of your student’s teachers will be contacting you via email some time this weekend to let you know the format of their classes for March 30 to April 3. If your student is receiving a packet for any of their classes, then those will be delivered to in-district students by bus drivers on Monday morning, March 30. Out of district students will need to pick up packets from the district office starting Monday, March 30 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. If you cannot pick up the packet on Monday, then the district office hours are Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. This is a new beginning for all of us and it will take some time to get in a schedule. Please be patient as we implement this plan and provide grace to everyone involved. Stay well.
Hi, Superintendent Brady Burton. A few statewide COVID-19 updates, there are currently 168 confirmed coronavirus cases in 25 Kansas counties. The median age of those infected is age 54. It's felt we are still three weeks away from the peak cases. On the positive side we fed 208 kids lunch today and many parents and students picked up their personal items from school. Items can still be picked up tomorrow morning. Teachers are working to complete our student's continuous learning plan which will begin Monday morning with the delivery of learning packets to homes. I'm meeting tomorrow morning with our bus drivers to complete the logistics of using them to deliver and pick-up packets every Monday morning. We hope your families are doing well and staying healthy. Have a good evening.
Hi, Superintendent Brady Burton. A friendly reminder, if you plan on picking up lunch and breakfast sacks for your children at one of our pick up points, you need to email in your confirmation form each day by 9:00AM. We have been short meals due to people forgetting to turn in their confirmations. Thank you for your help with this. We will start our continuous learning plan with students Monday. Mr. Mazouch has sent out information to BVHS and BVMS students/parents about how the learning material's packets will be delivered and picked up and the MES teachers have contacted their classroom parents with this same information. The staff has put in a tremendous amount of time in developing and implementing this learning plan. There has been many obstacles and logistically items to overcome to make this successful. I hope parents will be flexible and supportive in making this work. Don't forget student's personal items are to be picked up from school tomorrow and Friday morning. Thank you.
On Monday between 8:30am and 10:30am, all ms students and any high school students not doing on line assignments will be receiving a packet of assignments for the week from a bus driver or teacher. On Monday April 6 same time, students will again be given a new packet and will turn in the packet from previous week. Thank you for your cooperation. Marion Mazouch
Hi, superintendent Brady Burton. Here are the plans for the students pick up of personal items.. At McCormick Elementary on Thursday parents can pick up curbside between 10:00AM to 1:00PM and on Friday by appointment with your child's teachers. Information on this has also been sent to you through class DOJO. At BVHS and BVMS curb side pick-up plans are on Thursday between 10:00AM to 2:00PM and Friday between 9:00AM to 12:00PM. Thank you.
Hi Superintendent Brady Burton.Today, we served 134 kids breakfast and lunch at our curb side pick-up points at BVHS and MES. If you couldn't pick up food today, please join us tomorrow. Our teachers started working today on our district's continuous learning plan for students and that work will continue throughout this week. This learning plan will begin Monday, March 30. There continues to be more confirmed cases each day of the Coronavirus, so please do the necessary things to stay healthy. Students will be able to pick-up their personal belongings from school this Thursday. You should be contacted tomorrow with the pick-up plan details. If you are not, please contact the District Office at 293-5256. Please take care and have a good evening.
Hi, superintendent Brady Burton. Our staff is excited to get started developing our continuous learning plan starting Monday for our students which will begin for them on Monday, March 30. Our teachers will also be on duty from home between 8:30AM to 3:00PM starting March 30, if you have questions. The teachers will be notifying students late this week or on Monday, March 30 about their classroom plan. We will allow students to pick up any of their personal belongings from school, including medications, on Thursday, March 26, their teachers or Mr. Mazouch will be notifying students/Parents about the process to do this by Tuesday, March 24. Reminder, our free breakfast/lunch program begins Monday between 11:00 to 12:00PM at BVHS and MES.This will be everyday, Monday through Friday for any kids ages 1 to 18. Please take advantage of this! Let's all work together for the benefit of our kids and make this education delivery model as good of experience as we can. This is the new normal for all of us, but it is temporary and will pass. I continue to pray for all of us and know these current hardships will make us stronger. Take care and have a good weekend.
Hi, Superintendent Brady Burton. I met with several staff members today planning for our all staff zoom meeting Monday morning to start our planning for our continuous learning plan for our students. The staff and I will spend next week coordinating and planning for the release of our continuous learning plan which will be released to students and parents on Monday, March 30. We have also set Thursday, March 26 as the day we will let students come to the buildings to pick-up any needed learning materials and clothing from their classrooms or lockers. The elementary teachers will contact parents about the pick-up schedule and Mr. Mazouch will be notifying the BVHS and BVMS students and parents. This notification will be done next Monday afternoon or Tuesday. If you have any questions please call me at 785-293-5256(office) or 785-293-2429(cell) or email at email@example.com. Take care and have a good evening.

Hi, Superintendent Brady Burton. As of 4:00PM today, Governor Kelly is closing all public schools in the state of Kansas through the remainder of the school year. There will be a state wide continuous learning plan for all of our students starting March 30 that they will be expected to participate in for continued learning. This is being developed and I will have more information on this plan next week. All spring KSHSAA activities have been cancelled and all remaining Blue Valley trips, programs, activities, etc. are cancelled. I am also in the process of getting a KSDE waiver so we can feed our kids lunch and breakfast, Monday Thur Friday, at no cost to parents for the remainder of the school year starting March 23. The food will be picked up each day from a drive up line at BVHS and MES from 11:00 to 12:00PM. More information of this later in the week. I know everyone has questions, I will keep you informed on a daily basis and try to give you more answers as I get answers from the KSDE and as I have the time to plan things through. Thank you and hang in there. More information tomorrow.
Hi, Superintendent Brady Burton. The latest information on the Coronavirus looks like we will be out of school next week and possibly longer. The Blue Valley staff and I are going to start working on extended learning opportunities for all of our students if this happens. More information on this at the end of this week.Stay healthy and keep praying for the best. Thanks.
Hi, Superintendent Brady Burton. As of 4:00PM today, KSDE Commissioner Randy Watson, has requested all school districts in Kansas close for the upcoming week of March 16-20, for the safety of kids and staff due to the Coronavirus. So, Blue Valley schools will be closed March 16-20, only essential staff will be present. A decision by the KSDE will be made late next week about the status of school for the following week. No activities or practices will be allowed during the closing. I will keep you informed as I receive new information. Thank you and stay healthy.
Due to area school closings and concerns for COVID-19 the MS scholars bowl meets for Monday and Thursday of this week have been cancelled. The early release for HS students on Thursday March 19 at 1:53 is also canceled. Track practice is still scheduled for MS/HS students starting tomorrow after school from 3:30 to 5pm.
Hi, Superintendent Brady Burton. I just was informed the Riley County school district is being shut down until March 30 by the Riley County Health Department even though they do NOT have a confirmed case of the Coronavirus. From what I was told the Health Department has received many concerns from the RC parents and staff on their proximity to Manhattan and the decision was made for that reason. When a school district is shut down without a confirmed case of the coronavirus they will have to make up the days missed. The Blue Valley Schools remain open and the plans are to still be in session Monday morning, March 16. I will keep you updated if this changes. Thank you.
Hi, Superintendent Brady Burton. Nothing has changed with the status of school at Blue Valley, we have NO confirmed cases of the Coronavirus with either students or staff. Only the county health department, KSDHE or the Governor can order a school district to close due to a health concern. We do plan to have school Monday, March 16 and are taking every precaution to keep everyone healthy. Starting March 15, the weight room and all school facilities will be locked down for public use. Parents do have the right to keep their children home from school, but the students are responsible for picking up and turning in their homework for class credit. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter and rest assured we are following all the guidelines to keep your children as safe as possible. See you Monday.
Hi, Superintendent Brady Burton. The Riley County Health Department has decided to shut down the Manhattan Public Schools until March 30 due to their proximity to KSU and Ft. Riley and the fear of the Coronavirus. Manhattan USD does not have any confirmed cases. Blue Valley, Riley County and Rock Creek schools are not effected by this decision and all plan to have school Monday, March 16. Again, only the county health department or the State of Kansas can shut down a school district due to health concerns. As always, a parent can choose to keep their student(s) home from school but if school is in session students will be responsible for picking up and completing all classroom work. I will keep you posted if there is any new information on this matter. Thank you.
Hi superintendent Brady Burton, I want to again let everyone know, school is scheduled to resume as normal Monday, March 16. We will immediately notify you if this changes based on the direction of our county health departments and the KSDH. The Kansas State Department of Education is keeping all school districts up to date on any changes. Currently, there are zero cases of the Coronavirus in Kansas schools. If school is cancelled due to a confirmed case of the Coronavirus it will probably stay closed for 14 days but that will be up to our local health department’s guidance and you will be notified of specific plans of making up school, etc. at that time.
