EXCERPTS of USD #384 Special Board of Education Meeting

A Special Board of Education meeting for USD #384 Blue Valley was held on October 14, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. in the Board Room. Members present were Mitch Innes, Stephen Corkill, James Peter, Reo Shultz, Tim Innes, Jason Hartman, and Ginger Blaske. Administration present was Brady Burton, Superintendent, Marion Mazouch, Middle School/High School Principal, and Melody Pfaff, Board Clerk.

CALL TO ORDER: President, Mitch Innes called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.

BOARD WORK SESSION: The board discussed the Superintendent search. No action was taken.

ADJOURNMENT: Meeting adjourned at 6:41 p.m.

EXCERPTS of USD #384 Regular Board of Education Meeting

A Regular Board of Education meeting for USD #384 Blue Valley was held on October 14, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. in the Board Room. Members present were Mitch Innes, Stephen Corkill, James Peter, Reo Shultz, Tim Innes, Jason Hartman, and Ginger Blaske. Administration present was Brady Burton, Superintendent, Marion Mazouch, Middle School/High School Principal, and Melody Pfaff, Board Clerk.

CALL TO ORDER: President, Mitch Innes called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

APPROVE THE AGENDA: The Board approved the Agenda as presented.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Board and guests recited the Pledge of Allegiance.

WELCOME GUESTS: President, Mitch Innes welcomed our guests.

OPEN FORUM: No one addressed the board during Open Forum.

POSITIVE BOARD COMMENTS:

1. Reo Shultz mentioned that Grandparents Day at McCormick Elementary School was well attended.

2. Reo Shultz thanked the administration for bringing the McCormick Elementary students to Randolph for homecoming festivities.

3. Tim Innes congratulated the students for their success at land judging. The meet went well. It was nice to receive a personal thank you

4. Mitch Innes mentioned that fire prevention went well. A fun informative day for the students.

RECOGNITION OF STUDENTS/STAFF: Anthony Meals was in attendance to give highlights of what is going on in the Agriculture Education program and FFA some of which are: Students volunteering at booths at the State Fair, 13 Freshman attended the Greenhand Conference, Land Judging was held at Blue Valley with several students placing very well, the Blue Valley FFA Farmers Market was highly successful and will be held again on October 19, the agriculture education department will be partnering with T. Russell Animal Shelter and a hunters education safety course was held at the Blue Valley Agriculture Center with 27 seven participants. Very exciting things going on. The board thanked Anthony for his update,

PRINCIPAL REPORTS: These were noted with no additions.

SUPERINTENDENT REPORT: Superintendent Brady Burton updated the board in regard to the foam on the roof line at the Agriculture Education Center. AHRS has been contacted to fix it. The high school front sidewalks are deteriorating, and Superintendent Brady Burton will be getting bids for possibly replacement.

BOARD REPORT: Nothing to report.

CONSENT AGENDA: The Board approved the Consent Agenda as follows:

A. Approved Minutes of September 9, 2019 Special Board Meeting and September 9, 2019 Regular Board Meeting.

B.Approved Activity/Revenue/Expenditure Reports

UNFINISEHD BUSINESS:

Budget Review: Superintendent Brady Burton and Melody Pfaff reviewed the Budget Summary of Funds with the Board.

Roepke Fund Project: Reo Shultz is representing the Board with the Roepke Fund Project. Items discussed for project possibilities were discussed and Reo Shultz will discuss them with the other members of the committee at their meeting scheduled for October 21.

NEW BUSINESS:

Approve Warrants/Transfers: The Board approved the warrants/transfers as presented.

Superintendent Search: The Board approved to hire KASB to handle the Superintendent search for the district.

Bus Purchase: Superintendent Brady Burton presented an estimate from three companies to replace bus 06-1. This was a discussion item only. The Board tabled this item and requested Tim Pfaff attend the November 11 board meeting to give input.

2020-2021 Calendar Committee: The Board appointed Stephen Corkill and Jason Hartman to represent the Board on the 2020-2021 Calendar Committee.
