Qualifications: The applicant will meet the qualifications and behavior standards as set by the Kansas Department of Education.  In accordance with certification requirements and the performance expectations of USD #384, all Para-Educators shall meet the following employment criteria:

  • Graduated high school with a diploma or GED.

  • Preferred but not required to have an Associate Degree from an accredited college or university.

  • Preferred but not required to pass a state-approved assessment.


Essential Functions:

  • Demonstrate strict standards of confidentiality.

  • Provide support for students as planned by professional staff. 

  • Help ensure that all activities conform to district and building guidelines and policies.

  • Maintain punctuality and dependability in job performance.

  • Support the philosophy and mission of USD 384.

General Responsibilities:

  • Organize and prepare materials.  

  • Demonstrate problem-solving skills. ·  

  • Teach self-responsibility.  

  • Follow team-prescribed procedures for academic, social, communication, and behavioral intervention plans. 

  • Participate in collaborative planning.  

  • Communicate and work collaboratively with general education teachers, administrators, and school staff.  

  • Share in school-wide duties as assigned by the building principal. 

  • Share in recordkeeping duties, including progress monitoring, as assigned by professional staff.  

  • Participate in in-service and training, both required and as agreed upon by the paraeducator and professional staff.  

  • Support students in all school environments, including community-based training.  

  • Provide short-term coverage for professional and paraeducator peers.  

  • Seek assistance from other team members as needed to facilitate student needs.  

  • Travel to/from schools as required by the job.  

  • Proper techniques in lifting 50 pounds (two or more people needed for weighs above 50 pounds).  

  • Follow district policy, protocol, procedures, and programs when implementing duties.

  • Obtain, gather, and organize pertinent data as needed.

  • Other duties as assigned by the Building/District Administrator.

About Us: Blue Valley Pre School  is dedicated to providing a nurturing and engaging learning environment for young children. Our PreK program focuses on the development of social, emotional, cognitive, and physical skills through play-based and structured activities.

Job Summary: We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated PreK Teacher's Aid to join our team. The ideal candidate will support the lead teacher in creating a positive and enriching classroom experience for our young learners.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in Classroom Activities:

    • Support the lead teacher in planning and implementing daily activities and lesson plans.

    • Help set up and clean up classroom materials and equipment.

  2. Student Supervision:

    • Supervise children during classroom activities, outdoor play, and field trips.

    • Ensure the safety and well-being of all students at all times.

  3. Individualized Support:

    • Provide one-on-one or small group assistance to students who need additional help.

    • Support students with special needs, following individualized education plans (IEPs) as directed.

  4. Classroom Management:

    • Assist in maintaining a positive and orderly classroom environment.

    • Help manage student behavior using positive reinforcement and appropriate disciplinary measures.

  5. Communication:

    • Communicate effectively with the lead teacher, parents, and other staff members.

    • Share observations about student progress and any concerns with the lead teacher.

  6. Administrative Duties:

    • Assist with record-keeping, including attendance, student progress, and other required documentation.

    • Prepare materials for lessons and activities as needed.

  7. Professional Development:

    • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.

    • Stay informed about best practices in early childhood education.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or a related field preferred.

  • Experience: Previous experience working with young children in a preschool or childcare setting is highly desirable.

  • Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work collaboratively with others; patience and a nurturing attitude; basic computer skills.

  • Certifications: CPR and First Aid certification preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach various FCS courses such as nutrition, culinary arts, family relationships, child development, and financial literacy.
