SNOW DAY NOTICE FOR TUESDAY FEBRUARY 16, 2021 Hello Blue Valley Families! Because of the extreme cold temperatures expected again tonight into tomorrow, I have decided to CANCEL SCHOOL for tomorrow Tuesday February 16th, 2021. When we return to school, please remind your students to dress appropriately for the weather. This is primarily a reminder for middle school and high school students but it is good to remind everyone. Please stay safe and warm and plan ahead for the rolling power outages that will be occurring throughout the day today and tomorrow according to a report from WIBW channel 13.

FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT 2-10-2021 Hello Blue Valley families, I hope everyone is staying warm. We recently completed a survey of leadership in USD 384. I wanted to share the results with you. The staff had the opportunity to rate the building level leadership as well as district level leadership. A survey was also sent to the community to rate district level leadership. After the results were compiled, I reviewed the data and shared it with the Board of Education. I am pleased with the results. There is always room to improve and get better. The feedback we received will be used to make adjustments and get better. Overall the Middle/High School Leadership survey had 6 responses with an average leadership rating of 4.25 out of a possible 5. The Elementary School Leadership survey had 8 responses with an average leadership rating of 4.28 out of a possible 5. The District Level Leadership survey completed by the staff had 23 responses. The ratings were Excellent, Good, Needs Improvement and Unacceptable. The survey results were 28.96% Excellent, 64.25%, Good 6.75% Needs Improvement and 0 Unacceptable. The District Level Leadership survey completed by the community had 44 responses. The survey results were 35.9% Excellent, 50% Good, 13.64% Needs Improvement and 0.46% Unacceptable. (The link for the results is at the bottom of this message.) As you see we are doing pretty well with areas that need improvement. This year has been challenging on many levels. I feel very confident as we move forward, we will get better and make Blue Valley USD 384 the best it can be. Thank you all for your support this year. IT’S A GOOD DAY TO BE A RAM!! https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1FFDOOEb0BsuUkX2LG2ssaeSUd4q_oDd8SN52xc1Fm4o/edit?usp=sharing

SCHOOL UPDATE FOR TUESDAY JANUARY 26th. Hi Blue Valley families, I have spoken to several staff and looked at the weather for overnight and early tomorrow. We will have school as normally scheduled. A couple of our experienced bus drivers have been driving the roads on both sides of the lake today and this evening and feel comfortable with transporting students. For those students and staff who drive, please allow extra time when going to school. If something changes between now and then I will send out another message. Thank you for your patience as we navigate our first wintery weather experience together. Be safe!!

COVID UPDATE FROM SUPERINTENDENT EFFECTIVE 1-21-2021 Hello Blue Valley Community, As of today we have new COVID Quarantine Guidelines from the Health Department. Here are the details: Starting tomorrow, we will only use the date of test (we will no longer use symptom onset date) in determining timelines for quarantine and isolation. We will go back 48-hours from test date to determine any close contacts. We will also allow concurrent quarantine timelines for families whose children are in grade 7-12. It will not be an option for anyone in school Grades K-6 and Preschool. In order for a family to qualify for concurrent timelines, the POSITIVE must have a separate bathroom (with at least a toilet, sink, and shower/bathtub), and separate bedroom for the positive individual. The bathroom should be attached to the bedroom so the positive person doesn’t have to leave the room or walk through any common spaces. (For example, if they have an entire basement to themselves, it doesn’t need to be attached) This is a decision we made in order to get kids back in school faster, especially our older students who may have a significant impact on their education if they miss more than 10 days of school.
