Hello Blue Valley Families. Sorry for the short notice. The road construction started today causing 15-20 minute delays for the buses from Olsburg to Randolph and vice versa. We apologize for the inconvenience.

UPDATE ON KINDERGARTEN ROUNDUP MAY 4TH, 2021
Hello Blue Valley Families, I wanted to update you on the Kindergarten Round-up being held on May 4th from 5:30 - 6:30 at McCormick Elementary School. As the staff and I initially planned this event, a lot of thought went into how we could make it the safest way to have the “Round-up.'' We made the plans and sent the information out to the community. Since then, we have had some discussion with a variety of stakeholders about the event and we have decided to make some slight changes to the Kindergarten Round-up 2021.
The date of the event will be May 4th from 5:30-6:30 @ McCormick Elementary. We will have 2 portions to the event to accommodate as many people as possible: From 5:30-6:00, McCormick Elementary School will be open for an Open House to meet Mrs. Dreith. During the Open House, parents and incoming Kindergarteners are welcome to come in the building, take a tour of the classroom and building. Parents are encouraged to not bring siblings as there will be no child care available and the playground will be closed. From 6:00-6:30, Mrs. Dreith will move outside for the drive through portion of the event so parents who want to drive up can meet her and pick up their Kindergarten enrollment packets. We hope to see all incoming Kindergarten students and family on the 4th.

Message from the Superintendent 4-21-2021. Hi Ram Families, I just wanted to update you on our safety procedures as it relates to masks. As we move towards the end of this school year and look towards next year, we feel it is a good time to look at what we need to do moving forward. After some good discussion(s) and review of what we are currently doing, it was decided to make face masks optional while outside (recess, passing period, etc.) Masks are still required upon entering and while inside the school buildings, classrooms and on buses. We will still maintain appropriate social distancing in all spaces inside and out. If we participate in events outside of our district, we will still follow what ever safety procedures are in place for that event space/district. Thank you for the support you have given us so far. It's a great day to be a RAM!

I sent out a survey last week that we are using to develop the USD 384 long term strategic plan with. It is important for us to get community feedback while the BOE makes decisions on many things including infrastructure, transportation, maintenance, technology and curriculum. Your feedback is valuable. Thank you for taking the time to complete it. THIS SURVEY CLOSES ON FRIDAY THE 16TH AT MIDNIGHT.

April 8th, 2021. Hello Blue Valley Families,
I need to apologize for the short notice on this, time has gotten away from me. I wanted to let you know that we will be having an Archery Club meeting for the kids, today after school from 3:30-4:30. I know this is short notice and if the kids can't attend it is not a big deal. I went through the classrooms this morning to share the opportunity with the kids and asked them to reach out to parents because there is no transportation home after the meeting. We will be sending out a schedule once we can talk about dates. Archery is not in competition with other school activities such as track, robotics or scholars bowl. It is meant to be a fun activity for kids that they can participate in while they are doing the other activities. Our plan is to have Archery one (1) time per week and maybe a Saturday morning as well so those who do other activities can still participate. Please contact me with any questions you may have.

Good Morning Blue Valley Families, I received an email this week from KDOT that will impact transportation to and from school starting April 5th through the June 1st. Here is what I received: KDOT has a contractor that will be milling and overlaying K-16 and are planning to start the project April 5th. The contractor’s plan is to start at the US-77/K-16 junction (Randolph) and proceed east toward Blaine, KS. The project should be completed around June 1st timeframe. The contractor will be using a pilot car with flaggers, for traffic control purposes through the work zone. A typical work zone is roughly 2.5-4 miles. There will be delays to traffic up to 15 minutes. I will send updates as I received them.

When we return to school, please remind your students to dress appropriately for the weather. FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT 2-10-2021 Hello Blue Valley families, I hope everyone is staying warm. We recently completed a survey of leadership in USD 384. I wanted to share the results with you. The staff had the opportunity to rate the building level leadership as well as district level leadership. A survey was also sent to the community to rate district level leadership. After the results were compiled, I reviewed the data and shared it with the Board of Education. I am pleased with the results. There is always room to improve and get better. The feedback we received will be used to make adjustments and get better. Overall the Middle/High School Leadership survey had 6 responses with an average leadership rating of 4.25 out of a possible 5. The Elementary School Leadership survey had 8 responses with an average leadership rating of 4.28 out of a possible 5. The District Level Leadership survey completed by the staff had 23 responses. The ratings were Excellent, Good, Needs Improvement and Unacceptable. The survey results were 28.96% Excellent, 64.25%, Good 6.75% Needs Improvement and 0 Unacceptable. The District Level Leadership survey completed by the community had 44 responses. The survey results were 35.9% Excellent, 50% Good, 13.64% Needs Improvement and 0.46% Unacceptable. (The link for the results is at the bottom of this message.) As you see we are doing pretty well with areas that need improvement. This year has been challenging on many levels. I feel very confident as we move forward, we will get better and make Blue Valley USD 384 the best it can be. Thank you all for your support this year.
