The second graders completed a STEM project today. They had to design a freestanding home and then create it using 3D shapes they constructed. Their designs turned out great!

Last week the 4th Graders went to tour the middle school for 5th Grade Move Up Day! They were able to spend some time with the 5th graders to get a glimpse of what school will look like for them next year.

UPDATE FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT ABOUT M.E.S. FIELD DAY ON 5-21-2021
Hi McCormick Elementary Families, on Friday May 21st we are having our Talent Show and Field Day. If the weather does not allow us to go outside for Field Day, we will have Play Day at BVHS in the high school gyms. The Talent Show portion remains the same in the old gym, parents and siblings are allowed to attend and we will live stream it for those who can't attend. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCqKdd_8bqVck6cY If we have to have Play Day inside, we will not have the space for parents and siblings to remain and watch the activities that are being planned. Please understand that this would not be our preference but if we have to stay inside we would ask parents and sibling to leave after the talent show. If we are able to go outside, parents and sibling are encouraged to stay and watch the activities. Either way we would then plan on returning to McCormick at approximatley 3:15 with those students who live in Olsburg. The students who live in Randolph would stay at BVHS until the end of the day with staff to supervise them.
MESSAGE FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT 5-14-2021 Hi Blue Valley Families, I wanted to share with everyone that McCormick Elementary will have their annual Talent Show / Play Day next Friday May 21st at BVHS starting at 12:00 noon in the Old Gym. Due to the number of people expected and our need to social distance for safety, we need to limit the number of people who can attend the indoor portion of this day to parents and siblings of MES students. We will also Live Stream it so that those who can't attend won't miss it. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCqKdd_8bqVck6cY After the talent show, we will have our Play Day on the BVHS football field/track. and return to MES about 3:15. We are excited about having this event after the year we have gone through. Hopefully the weather cooperates. If not, we will update everyone as needed. It's a great day to be a RAM!!!
It takes a lot of activities to keep kids engaged this time of year!

The Reading Counts kids store was a big hit. The students spent the bucks they had earned from reaching their monthly reading goals. What a fun day!!

We had a great day today learning all about where milk comes from, and things made from it. Thanks to the BV FFA for the help, and the Riley County Farm Bureau for providing the Ag Ed boxes!

What a great night for the FFA Awards Banquet!! There was an amazing turnout by the community. Mr. Meals and the FFA students did a tremendous job!

Spicing up reading groups with whisper phones today! Nothing is more fun!

The 4th Graders planted our 4H Garden this week! We are growing onions, lettuce, spinach, and radishes. Our goal is to enjoy a fresh salad at the end of the school year!

McCormick Elementary Spring Concert
May 18th, 2021
at Blue Valley High School 7:00pm
Hello Blue Valley Families. Sorry for the short notice. The road construction started today causing 15-20 minute delays for the buses from Olsburg to Randolph and vice versa. We apologize for the inconvenience.
UPDATE ON KINDERGARTEN ROUNDUP MAY 4TH, 2021
Hello Blue Valley Families, I wanted to update you on the Kindergarten Round-up being held on May 4th from 5:30 - 6:30 at McCormick Elementary School. As the staff and I initially planned this event, a lot of thought went into how we could make it the safest way to have the “Round-up.'' We made the plans and sent the information out to the community. Since then, we have had some discussion with a variety of stakeholders about the event and we have decided to make some slight changes to the Kindergarten Round-up 2021.
The date of the event will be May 4th from 5:30-6:30 @ McCormick Elementary. We will have 2 portions to the event to accommodate as many people as possible: From 5:30-6:00, McCormick Elementary School will be open for an Open House to meet Mrs. Dreith. During the Open House, parents and incoming Kindergarteners are welcome to come in the building, take a tour of the classroom and building. Parents are encouraged to not bring siblings as there will be no child care available and the playground will be closed. From 6:00-6:30, Mrs. Dreith will move outside for the drive through portion of the event so parents who want to drive up can meet her and pick up their Kindergarten enrollment packets. We hope to see all incoming Kindergarten students and family on the 4th.
This is a reminder to fill out the 2nd preschool survey. If you have already filled it out, thank you! If not, please fill it out by Friday, April 23rd.
